The Notebook TEXT file Before you create your new Notebook you will need to create a text file which contains the information to be included in the Notebook. You’ll note from this window that each topic has an associated label (in the left hand portion of the window) - in this case it is the string - ‘The Notebook Text Window’. Thus you will need to include the label, as well as the text for each of the topics in your text file. The information in this file must be in a specific format - that is, the label of each topic, followed by the text of each topic, and each of these blocks of text must be delimited by some string. An example of such a text file is presented below: First topic labelThis is the text for the first topic My second topic labelHere is where the text for the second topic is includedThird labelMore text here Third labelThis is the text for the last topic. You will notice that the string ‘’ separates each label from the associated text, and that at the end of each block of topic text if the string ‘’. Each label and block of topic text must be delimited in this way so that when the text file is imported into Notebook Maker, each label can be distinguished from each block of text. In the example just given, the ‘’ string is called the ‘End of Label’ delimiter, and the ‘’ string is called the ‘End of Text’ delimiter. An example text file is supplied with Notebook Maker. You can use this file to create your first Notebook, and to see how the topic labels and text should be delimited properly. Note that you don‘t have to use and as the two delimiter strings. These are just the defaults—you can use whatever you wish.
